A succulent terrarium is a beautiful addition to any room and a great way to bring a touch of nature into your home or office. Not only does it look beautiful, it is also easy to clean and will last for years with proper care. This article will show you step by step how to build your own succulent terrarium. Step 1: Collect Supplies To make a succulent terrarium you will need the following materials: glass jar with lid or open top soil for succulents pebbles or gravel activated carbon small succulents Decoration item (optional)

Step 2: Add drainage First, add a layer of small rocks or gravel to the bottom of the container. This allows for good drainage and prevents the soil from becoming soggy. Depending on the size of the container, the layers are approximately 1 to 2 inches deep.

Step 3: Add a Layer of Activated Charcoal Then add a thin layer of activated charcoal on top of the stone. This will help absorb excess moisture, prevent bacteria and mold from growing, and keep the soil fresh.

Step 4: Add Soil Add a layer of succulent potting soil to the charcoal and leave enough space at the top of the container for the plants. The bottom should be about 2-3 inches deep.

Step 5: Plant Succulents Now add succulents. Choose a small plant that fits comfortably in the container and place it in the soil leaving enough room for it to grow. Press the soil firmly around the roots to hold the plant in place.

Step 6: Add Cosmetic Items (Optional) Optionally, you can add decorative items to your terrarium to improve its appearance. These are small stones, shells or miniature figures. Get creative and try different items until you find a combination you like.

Step 7: Maintain the Terrarium Once you have finished building your terrarium, place it in a bright area with indirect sunlight. Water sparingly about once a week or when the soil feels dry. Succulents prefer dry soil, so be careful not to overwater. Leave the lid open or slightly open to allow air circulation and prevent moisture buildup.
